The last morning of the autumn colours holiday was bright, fresh and sunny. There had been several degrees below zero and there was already plenty of frost on the ground. All the week we had planned a fell walk and now the weather was finally suitable for this route.

We started from the parking place of Ylläs Fell (Y1) and walked along the reindeer trails to the first fell fence. From there, we reached Ylläs Fell service road. This section is very steep and quite heavy to climb up. As road rose upwards, the landscapes were getting better and better and we were able to see Fells Kellostapuli, Kesänki and Lainio. Pretty soon we were higher than those Fells and we saw all the way to the Pallas Fells.

On the steep upward road rose, the heart rate rose surprisingly high and it was necessary to take a break. At the same time, there was time to admire the scenery in the bright morning sun. We had previously planned to ride this route by bike, but fortunately not. In this holiday we had our own bikes with us in Äkäslompolo, and we hadn't electric assistants on our bikes. It would have been very heavy to push bikes on this very steep road.

After more than halfway, we reached the Keskinen Laki path and our hiking continued upwards between Yllästunturi and Keskinen Laki as a rocky path. When we were up there were amazing views both north and south. Anyway, it was easy to follow the rocky path from the orange triangles painted on the stones. Walking through the path it reminded us that this is the same route we took a couple of years ago with mountain bikes from the direction of Ylläsjärvi.

The Keskinen Laki path goes close to Ylläsjärvi and it was seen on the right side when we turned to the direction of Tuomikuru gorge. Now the route was easy and sunny. We arrived at Tuomikuru gorge and sit down for a while to drink and admire the scenery. The place was quite popular due to its stunning views and there are benches, campfire place, a hut and toilets. We continued first to the Tuomikuru gorge down and again along the steep path up. Then we were in very beautiful and quiet location where it was easy to film with a Drone as well.

The sun was shining, the ground colours was glowing, but after drone flying, I was already thinking about going home. Fortunately, there was still a bit of a trip to go and we walked along the easy-to-walk and downward path towards the Kellostapuli gorge. On the way, I need to stop several times to take photographs and admire the scenery. We agreed this walking route to be like a dream route, kilometres over ten, amazing views all the way and sunny weather.

After Kellostapuli gorge we walked through Varkaankure back to the parking place. Last time we admired the autumn colours and I knew that the time for those beautiful colours would be over very soon. The previous night's frost had already darkened the colours a little, and the windy days of the week had already dropped the leaves from the trees. With a sad mind it will be time to go back home. Luckily, I can dream our next trip to Äkäslompolo.
